Can you deliver 50…the PharmD conversion exam.

One of our most ardent readers sent this to us, I personally thought it was more of a medical doctor thing, but he made us understand it was one of the questions they were asked, when he was trying to convert from Bpharm (obtainable in NIgeria) to PharmD (obtainable in the United States). Also, we have very encouraging number of medical doctors audience, here is the question, hook, line and sinker.
A 45 year old woman presents to her physician for her yearly routine examination. She has no current health problems. Her past medical, surgical and family histories are unremarkable. She is happily married and has two healthy children. She doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol. She doesn’t have any risk factors for HIV or any sexually transmitted diseases. Her vital signs are within normal limits. Physical examination and laboratory investigations are normal. She doesn’t have any screening tests for the past 5 years.

Which of the following screening maneuvers is most likely recommended for this patient?

A- No screening tests are needed at this time

B- Chest x-ray

  1. Pap smear.
She is married and every woman of reproductive age should have a pap smear at least 3 times a year for about 3 years, then yearly until 60years.

  2. Pap smear.
She is sexualy active, over 21 and less than 60.
She also has not had any screening tests done in the past 5 years.
Pap smear test is indicated for sexualy active women between 21 and 60.
Before 21, the harm overrides the benefits.
